Lemme guess, maven 2.2.1 + mac OS? https://issues.sonatype.org/browse/FLEXMOJOS-297
So far seems to be a plexus util bug. There isn't much I can do there. You could try downloading maven 2.2.1 source and build it with a different plexus version to see if fixes the problem. It doesn't seem to affect maven 2.0.9 nor maven 3 nor non-mac machines.
