Dude, I believe you :) I am surely doing something wrong - really just wanted to try out the 4.0-alpha-6 version of the plugin from git.
All is well - I will move forward as is - I have this working now. I am pretty sure -DskipTests=true works but you are right -DskipTests would work too. I use -DskipTests=true all the time though.....
