I actually ended up going back and modifying the java classes that
were being generated from, I think part of a design issue really.  I
checked out your link and actually stumbled upon another issue I'd
been having with blaze, the externalizable class.  I had done the
exact same thing as you, modifying the gsp's and removing those
functions.
