Do you eventually use one of the most recent flex sdks? Have you
specified the

<swfVersion>11</swfVersion>

Configuration parameter? I rememmber having this problem before
defining it. I guess using the mx application will make your
application not rely on the swfVersion 11, but using a Spark
Application certainly will.
