Have you checked out the articles on Adobe.com? http://www.adobe.com/products/flex/ Maybe even the CF section has something, been awhile since I looked out there.

I showed how to use all 3 ways to connect to server side data (no FDS/LCDS ). I'd send you a link to the Connect recording, but well it sucked due to me having a aversion to sitting while presenting and due to Connect having aversions to using Charles while recording. Doh!
