Hi Venkat,

Thanks for the reply.I implemented the custom component and it is
appearing fine in the datagrid column. But i have some doubts regarding
the above approach :

1) I basically want that i should have a drop-down list and based on
the menu-item chosen appropriate action should be taken on the data in
the column. But i want the text that appears on the comboBox to be
constant and equal to the column name. For example,if the column name
is "A" and one of the drop down items is
"sort" then on clicking "sort" the column should be sorted but the
comboBox text shouldn't change to "sort" ; it should remain constant
as "A".

2)I basically wanted to implement this component so that i could
implement a common set of functions that would act on the data in the
context of the column that was clicked.I was basically relying on the
Header Release event so that i can get the column index that was
clicked and implement this functions on any column of datagrid. But how
can i get the column index when i click on the menu-item of comboBox?
I can only get the index of the item in the menu-list.

Is there a better approach of solving my problem ? My problem is
basically this :

I want to give a menu-based functionality for each column ( a drop-
down kind of feature) and implement a couple of operations like :
sort, search etc. for the chosen column in the datagrid and show the
output. Any suggestions or best practices would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Shishir.
