You can do one thing you can have a filtering function for the
dataprovider like this.
dataProvider.filterFunctions = [filterByCol] ;
public function filterByCol( item:Object ):Boolean
{
if( item.Col == selectedValue )
{
return true;
}
else
{
return false;
}
}
Col is the column name of your datagrid and
selectedValue is the vlaue to be compared
