No way, man...
AIR can just connect to a SQLite database

If you want to connect to a MySql, Oracle or even MS SQL Server, you'll need
some other programming language at the backend. It can be any web language,
such as PHP, C#, Java, etc.

It's quite easy, so you may have no problems with it.

Try lookin' for something at Adobe's website. There's a lot of useful
information about this.
