I noticed that you didn't refresh the grouping collection.

gcoll.refresh()

If that didn't help you can use custom use a compare function like:

private function compareItems(a:Object, b:Object,
fields:Array=null):int
{
      return ObjectUtil.stringCompare(a.timestamp.toString(),
b.timestamp.toString());
}

myGrp.comparefunction = compareItems;
