First thing I would point out in your code is that you are not
consuming the FlashVars correctly. Best practice is to always check
for the null before using it. =)
var flashVarsObject:Object = Application.application.parameters or
FlexGlobals.topLevelApplicaiton.parameters
if(flashVarsObject["parameterName"])
{
// do something here
}
