Is it possible to have flexbackup not attempt to set blksize?

We have a Sun DLT7000 and the OS is Solaris 9.

Any attempts to:

flexbackup -test-tape-drive

returns this error:

flexbackup version 1.2.1 (http://flexbackup.sourceforge.net)
/etc/flexbackup.conf syntax OK

|------------------------------------------------------------
| Checking /bin/sh on this machine... unknown (probably Bourne Shell)
|------------------------------------------------------------
| Trying "mt defblksize" instead of "mt setblk"
Error setting block size
Neither of these commands worked:
  mt -f /dev/rmt/0cn setblk 0
  mt -f /dev/rmt/0cn defblksize 0
