Hi:

I use the same tape drive.  Don't use SCSI, use hd?=ide-tape in your boot
package.  Then set the blksize to 32k, and then use the 
-test-tape-drive option to verify that it works. Much faster to test. 

This drive has one problem:  if the write operation fails, you usually
have to power-cycle the machine (ugh) to restore the drive to sanity.  If
you can fix that one, please let me know how.

The relevant bits from my config file are:

$type = 'afio';
