You probably don't have write permissions on the files or the index area or
something like that... 

Exact mechanism depends on what your perl does for AnyDBM, but this is the only
line involved:

    tie(%::index,"AnyDBM_File",$cfg::index,O_CREAT|O_RDWR,0640)
 


(If you can't figure the problem out you can set $indexes = false in the
meantime.)
