I just found that if I have to change the configuration of TextPad (which I use for writing MXML and AS at the moment).
If I tell TextPad to write AS files as UTF-8 with a BOM then the Umlauts get displayed ok. If I save the AS file as UTF-8 but without BOM then the Umlauts are corrupted. Dirk.
