Hi Douglass, All of the Flex doc is available on the Macromedia web site in an HTML format, not in a Flash template, though we do use frames. The manuals are all searchable and are indexed. You can see them here:
http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flex/15/asdocs_en/ The API reference is also delivered as HTML, and is searchable. You can see it here: http://livedocs.macromedia.com/flex/15/asdocs_en/ In addition, since we deliver the documentation using LiveDocs, customers can comment on individual pages of the documentation. This lets customers provide feedback and point out errors. Additionally, we can push comments out to customers using LiveDocs. Having all docs entirely indexed and searchable is a huge win and will greatly improve our productivity and will increase adoption of this technology. The current setup is extremely awkward and difficult to use. I have spent hours wading through the current setup (bizzarly using frames!) that is encased in some odd Flash template that makes proper bookmarking an exercise in futility. I am convinced Macromedia is turning away potential users of Flex not because of the technology (which is world class) but because of the dilapidated state of the documentation. Not a rant, Douglass Turner Yahoo! Groups Links
