axis label rotation

I can't get axis label rotation to work with the horizontal labels on a 
column chart.

Following the example from Ely Greenfield, in a column chart I have set 
horizontalAxisStyle to hangingCategoryAxis, set canDropLabels to true on 
the horizontalAxisRenderer, and embedded the Arial font. Still, the labels 
won't rotate - even when I deploy his example unmodified on my local server.

Any ideas on what's wrong?
