To answer your other question, there is currently nothing in the Dev Apps book on using _javascript_ in Flex. But, for the next version of Flex, I"ve already added a chapter on _javascript_ -> Flex and Flex -> _javascript_ interaction based on all the comments on this group.

Actually, if it pleases the group, maybe some can suggest additional topics for that chapter. Here's what I have so far:

Using query string parameters
Using flashVars
Calling _javascript_ functions from Flex
 - getURL
 - fscommand
Accessing Flex variables from _javascript_ (basically, the setVariable method mentioned below)

Thanks,

Read this

Its technote talking about " File Upload in Flex/Flash
in Internet
Explorer".

You can notify Flex back from _javascript_ using
FlashObject.setVariable("var", "value");

Where FlashObject is id/name of Object/Embed tag in
HTML....

Subject: [flexcoders] flex and _javascript_

Hi,
i've some difficult questions. Is there a way to
communicate between flex and _javascript_? I need from a
flex application to open a new ie window that contains
a file uploader. Can i notify flex application that
the uploader has finished its job? I'm also wondering
if in macromedia.com there are some examples or
documents.
Thanks for your help
Regards
