Well it depends how your network is setup and the machine is accessed.  If you rely on the Windows network to resolve the names the authentication can happen automatically without user interaction (assuming you set up your browser to allow it).  I’m assuming this is an intranet application and hopefully the company’s IT department would decide that this is acceptable.  Otherwise you are right, the authentication dialog will come up.

I believe that will require the user to authenticate against the
