You have 3 options:
1. Specify the correct encoding in the MXML file.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
iso-8859-1 is the default encoding used by my editor. What is your
editor saving the file as? (Chances are you have no clue, so see the
next option.)
2. Save the file as utf-8. Set this up in your editor's preferences.
3. (Hacky.) Insert the character using escape codes (or whatever
they're called).
