Isn't the source of the proxy image the same as that of the item being
dragged? If yes, the loading should be instantaneous because the
image file is already downloaded and cached in the web browser. I
don't think the browser requests the image from the server again. You
can verify this by running a network protocol analyzer (FlexBuilder's
network monitor?).
