Everything should be isolated, you should
be able to re-use variable and function names. I’m not sure why you’re
having problems with the RemoteObject, as I said before we’ve seen
problems with it and popups and maybe they’re related.

Hello All,
Being a Flash programmer previous to Flex, I was
in the habit of reusing
function names throughout my application.
This was acceptable, because
unless they are specified as Global, Variables and
Functions are LOCAL
to that particular Movie Clip.
Is this NOT the same with Flex?
In my Popup Window, I declared my RemoteObject
using the name
"remoteService" - the same name used in
my Application Root. This is
how I always name my Remoting Services - for
making Remoting Calls, etc.
In the end, I want to just declare this Object
once, and use it over and
over, from anywhere in my Application - but that's
later, during my
optimization phase.
Long story short, this is what caused all my
problems. I changed my
RemoteObject name in my Popup Window, to
"remoteService1" - and it
works!
Can somebody explain to me how this all works with
Flex? Are my Popup
Windows - or any other Containers throughout my
Application, isolated or
NOT isolated from one another? I was just
under the impression that
much of the Flex methodology was borrowed from
Flash.
Thanks in advance for everybody's wonderful help
& input.
Mike
