I seem to remember that you do
<mx:Style>
ErrorTip { borderColor: #123456; color: #654321 }
</mx:Style>
It's wacky that you have to set borderColor instead of backgroundColor.

Subject: [flexcoders] change color of validation error message
Hi all,
I am new to the group ... hello and thanks ot all the people who
supply all those valuable postings!
problem:
I wrote a few custom validation classes estending
mx.validators.Validator. everything works fine except one issue:
can I apply a custom color to the "error message display". the default
is "white font on red background". going through the API docs I
couldn't see any color attribute or a method to set the color of the
error message. looks like white font on red background is the default.
any comments appreciated,
josef
