I don't know of any good examples. I think Christophe created a mySQL Admin tool that might have some good info in it: http://coenraets.com/viewarticle.jsp?articleId=88
It is a "devil in the details" situation. One query or other transaction is easy, but full, real-world solutions are tough. The issue is complicated by the necessity for a middle tier. While sending sql statements is frowned upon for various reasons, the easiest thing you can do is create a sql pass-through middle tier url. Ours is a simple aspx page that requires dbserver, database, user and password, and sql request arguments. This allows for ad-hoc queries, and let us do more complex stuff via stored procedures. It wraps any results in a root tag, so FOR XML AUTO queries are always valid in Flex. I can stay in Flex and in the database, and don't need to mess with the middle tier. Tightly coupling a data access tier to the flex app is doubtless better, but will be very messy for anything but trivial work. If you are dealing with SQL server and have some gurus that know about things like "updategrams" and stuff you job might get easier. I am still trying to figure out a way to do generic db maintenance, but without success so far Tracy -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of charlespaz1 Sent: Friday, June 24, 2005 6:01 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [flexcoders] Simple Database Access Are there any examples or tutorials yet for a simple database front end, allowing single record viewing, first/previous/next/last browsing, editing, adding and deleting? I don't want to reinvent the wheel, but if one doesn't exist I'll start making one. -- Flexcoders Mailing List FAQ: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/flexcoders/files/flexcodersFAQ.txt Search Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/flexcoders%40yahoogroups.com Yahoo!
