Ok currently I have a source coming from the database into a list.  I am
able to drag elements from that source into this empty list (array).  I
want to be able to send that new list back to the server.  However all
methods I have attempted to send it back, have not worked.  I will give
more detail when I head home.  Has anyone ever attempted something
simliar to  this, and thank you for your help so far Tracy.

The drop target has a dataProvider too, and it will contain what you
dropped into it.

Ok let me clarify the datagrid is the result of a drop target, so the 
original dataprovider is actually an empty arraycollection.
