yes, they work by themselves, but not when I load a "pure actionscript/flash" swf and use it in Flex. I have a SWFLoader which loads the .swf and it seems that this causes the swf not to be able to open a new browser window from htmlText at least (I've tried adding a button and opening a new browser window from it, that works fine with navigateToUrl)..
