Software Update on OSX regularly updates the Flash Player because of security vulnerabilities. It's actually a good thing to do on their part because it means that most mac users are not vulnerable to Flash Player security holes in older versions but it also means that it overwrites the debug version most of us have installed, so you have to reinstall it. I usually keep a copy of the debug installer on my desktop for just this reason.
