[flexcoders] DataGridColumn sort on null dates

I'm trying to write my own sortCompareFunction for a DataGridColumn 
which displays Dates or nulls. 

I looked thru the archives but can't find any examples. 

I'm happy to subclass DataGridColumn. 

Any links / examples will be appreciated.
