With barcode readers you have two options: Keyboard scanner or serial port scanner. With a keyboard scanner you have to move a cursor to a text box you are entering data into, then a scan will go into that field. the rest is as same as it would have been entered by a hand. With serial scanners you wouldn't have to position cursor first, but you would need an application that runs on the server to control serial port. Not trivial task, can be done though, but what's worse you will need to find a way of delivering scanned data into Flex interface. Even less trivial task. I would suggest to stick to a keyboard option. HTH
