Just for the record, this is now working, with the additional methods in place. I rechecked the alias and changed it to not extend EventDispatcher, and one or both of these worked. So, yes, you can have additional methods on typed objects that need to originate with a RemoteObject. The jury is still out on EventDispatcher. Thanks to all who contributed to my understanding of what was going on here!!!
