Directly? Indirectly? Server? Client? So many options... For direct client communication, if you can widen your delivery to include AIR you need to take a look at the Merapi project: http://www.merapiproject.net/. To be fair though client side communication from Flex to Java is likely going to happen over/through fragile and difficult to configure setups. Indirect server implementations like BlazeDS (already mentioned) are going to be more robust and less prone to bustage. With that Google is your friend!
