I just downloaded the latest nightly build of SDK 3.4.0, and there is a fix 
there that works for me. The change is in the constructor for XMLEncoder and is 
commented as addressing SDK-18326. However I agree with the comment on 
SDK-18326, from reading the code it appears that the fix will only work for AIR 
(which is what I'm using) and looks at the player version rather than the 
compile target version. So I suspect it's not addressed in all cases.
