There are very few use cases where it is appropriate to access dynamic data directly from a control. You may have such a case, but remember that data is displayed by itemRenderers, which are recycled, so at best you could only access the visible rows data.
If I have understood you and that is what you do indeed want, then you probably can do it. I think you need to use the DOM to get to the itemRenderer, and from there get to the data property. Sounds like a lot of work, and you haven't said what is your issue with using the dataProvider.
