Hi Tracy,that was a mistake, actually i called it 'isValid' like this

<mx:Button x="504" y="511" id="submitButton"
label="Continue"click="Submit();" enabled="{isValid}"/>


is valid is a boolean that i declared in my code-behind

also

i noticed that when i put defaultButton in the root node of my mxml
component it does the same thing...

very confused
