Honestly, I also could not believe it, but I was extensively looking for good resources, and the best to start with was:
"Flex 3 for dummies". Even though I have a computer science background, my doubts of buying and reading this books vanished quickly. I have never done anyhing with Flex, AS3, Mxml, etc before, so I really needed a book which explained all the basics. It provides you with the basic knowledge to build your first flex apps.
