How are you calling your test.cfm page? 
http://whatever/test.cfm?Var1=val1&var2=val2 etc..?

And when you say shoot, like <cflocation> shoot, or in your cfm you're 
embedding the .mxml.swf?

If you have debugging turn on, you'll see on your test.cfm page what URL 
var's exist.
