The community is great at helping people who have specific questions. A newbie is on their own until they at least learn the basics and can ask meaningful questions. For example, if you haven't figured out the difference between MXML and AS3, then you need to do some self study before asking questions.
As to the question of which books, I would say you would learn a lot from just about any of them. It kind of depends one what your goal is. If you want to learn to use the Flex framework then maybe http://flexinaction.com/. If you are still trying to learn AS3 then Essential ActionScript 3.0 is a great start.
