private is syntactic sugar via AS2; it's compiled down to AS1 prototype
bytecode, however, which does not support public/private. So, if you can
figure out how to bypass the compiler...

Subject: [flexcoders] my private vars are NOT private....

Hey Guys,

I have a class with something like this in it....

private var _myVar:String  = "bob";

My Class is an MXML file that has a mx:Box as its base.

When I create one, and try to reference myInstacne._myVar, I get "bob"....

I thought making a variable private meant it was ONLY avalible inside
that class, and it would be up to me to write a getter and setter
function for _myVar if required...

am I missing something?
