Isn't this more an issue of Macromedia providing support than anything
else?  I'd be surprised if any major browser vendor would change their
plugin API to be so incompatbile that it cut out Macromedia (and other
3rd parties).

Then again, I could see a conspiracy theory regarding the Trusted
Computing Initiative.  IE already displays a somewhat scary message by
default and refuses to run Flash until the user grants consent (in
some configurations).
