Yes, that can happen ... and also when they are referenced by
actionscript.

This is related to the "no binding update" bug that we talked about on
this liste this past month (and about a year ago).  Search for
Berovitz in the archives for more info.

FYI, using mxmlc instead of the incremental compiler will drastically
improve the rate at which you can track this down.

It's been a while, but I think you might try a "binary search"
approach to commenting out code to locate an offending class in the cycle.
