I think ExternalInterface doesn't allow you to pass native objects between 
AS/JS, something that the integration kit does very well ;)
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Note that in Flex 2 (ActionScript 3), Javascript->Flex and Flex->Javascript 
communication is natively supported with the ExternalInterface API. This is 
documented in the Flex 2 Alpha docs here:
