  You are correct, I never call "send()" for the HTTP service.  Once I did 
that, it started working, as expected (and I can now drill down into the 
XML).  Excuse me while I bang my head on the desk.  I can't believe I spent 
a day and half on that.

  A fresh set of eyes was all it needed.

  I feel like I just stepped back into a "CS101" class.
