I'm getting the same problem, using both ways, there is
always the scrollbars.
And there is no absolute sizes in my
application.
Any ideas?

My application has a viewStack defined as
<mx:ViewStack id="appView" width="{width}" height="{height}">
For some reason the view stack is drawn with horizontal and vertical
scroll bars (even if the content does not consume the area). How can
I get around the scroll bars ?
If I omit the width / height the allocated area is too small.
