In Flex 2 Beta 1 if you set includeInLayout="false" in addition to
visible="false", the FormItem will not take up any space.

In the meantime, try setting a negative height to compensate for the
extra verticalGap.

Subject: [flexcoders] Dynamic form layout and hidden FormItem. Is it
possible without doubtful workarounds?

Is there any way to hide some FormItem containers dynamically and show
them
when needed. When I set widht and height to 0 and visible to false it
causes
extra vertical space that is not acceptable to me. You can find the
example
of what I say about below:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="http://www.macromedia.com/2003/mxml";>

        <mx:Panel title="Form">

                <mx:Form>

                        <mx:Repeater id="formItemRepeater"
dataProvider="{new Array(30)}">

                                <mx:FormItem width="0" height="0"
visible="false" label="{'Label '+formItemRepeater.currentIndex}">

                                        <mx:TextInput />

                                </mx:FormItem>

                        </mx:Repeater>

                </mx:Form>

        </mx:Panel>

</mx:Application>
