I'm not sure if the example requires you to have the server proxy running as the destination may not have a crossdomain.xml file (I don't have the book with me). The proxy didn't ship with the Alpha so you'd need to just find a different service that does work without a proxy for now. Otherwise when the beta comes out the proxy will be available again.
