Both the issues are related to some kind of
'refresh' - the datagrid not stretching height-wise and controlbar not resizing
with panel resize!
I have started noticing this with the 8.5 player. I
am saying this because the same apps that I developed earlier shows this
'no-resize' problem on the 8.5 player.
Maybe and a big maybe, there's a bug in the
player.

Exactly this works for me. Maybe it's because I'm on a
development
build of Flex 1.5 :-/ (Could someone else
confirm?)

I don't see this
behaviour either. The Advanced Options area is
always the width of
the Panel (even after resizing the browser
window).
