In Flash MX 2004, I simply extended the CalendarLayout & DateChooser to fix the problem. I did not allow de-selection, therefore never had to worry about selectedDate toggling to a non-selectable value if a user clicks the same date again. In Flex, this isn't so straightforward. For now, I'm going to just try to extend the DateField, extend DateChooser's getter/setter functions (since there are like 3 functions that are too huge to extend that atcually do the re-setting of the variable), and then hi-jack the class that DateField throws up in the PopUpManager to use mine instead. ...anyone have a... you know... better way?
