This means that the data passed into the comparator to figure out how to do the sort (the field value of the first item in the DP) is null or not a simple type. So what is the value of dp[0].armyname? If it's null or if it is an object where you then used a labelFunction you may need to specify a custom compare function for the column so that we can accurately sort it.
