I don't recommend my own kind of thinking on this but to some people having little quirks and weirdness in the language is what's most attractive .. I totally understand what you mean re Python and Ruby.. although I think it comes down to personal inclination, not logic :)

Yes, Python is nice for most purpose of course. I only don't really like
the syntax of course it's better then the syntax of Ruby. I consider Ruby
just ugly and moving functionality of a IDE (i.e. templating) into the
syntax of the language.
