I have been using Flex on and off for over a year now, and I have been
looking into an alternative to using Java for the backend database
access. I came across Ruby on Rails, which seems to be getting lots of
attention at the moment. Further digging around brought up a real
example of using Rails for the backend, and Flex for the front end.

I know they are simple examples but I was amazed by how little code
that Rails requires to get DB reads and updates working.
