Matt,

IMHO, I think that's an error. Maybe the XSD is not the best solution, but is very helpful to people starting with Flex. If you really want to reach that 1 million flex developers in 5 years, providing such simple file would be a huge step in the right direction, so people don't get stopped with things like that.

If a developer start with FlexSDK and he wants to start building with Eclipse WTP + XSD, the xsd would help him to get started more easy, and maybe finaly he will love Flex and would jump to FlexBuilder2.

Sincerily, not providing such kind of files with the SDK (although not perfect solution), seems to me like a step backwards again. Hope you'll reconsider and provide it in the next release. Just my opinion.

Thanks.

C.

Hi, there are no plans at the moment to provide an xsd for Flex 2.  It's something we can consider for a future release or maybe the community will write one that they find useful.  We've found that the MXML language ended up not really lending itself to a schema because schema can't handle many of the things that are valid in MXML (like providing a property as either a child tag or an attribute).

Subject: [flexcoders] where is mxml.xsd in flex 2?

Hi,

I was trying to set up an Eclipse WTP enviroment without FlexBuilder2, and trying to find an XSD for MXML like the one distributed with in Flex 1.5, but I was unable to find it.
Is there such file? if not, please Adobe, could you provide the actual " mxml.xsd" in the next release of Flex 2.0 SDK?
